Hi friends! I’ve been absent from the blog and social media for a bit. I’ve been juggling quite a bit professionally and personally. I wanted to pop on here to share some updates. First off, I’m married! I’m now a Mrs.! The wedding was spectacular and everything came together so beautifully. We feel so blessed to have had such a wonderful day and so many of our friends and family there to support us and celebrate with us. I am working on a post to share pictures and all the details from the big day. Stay tuned for that, as well as some more wedding-related content!
In other news… we bought a new home! We closed right before Christmas, spent the week in Vermont for the holiday and started moving the weekend we got back. As for our previous home, we will be keeping it and renting it out. About 6 1/2 years ago, shortly after Keith and I started dating, I purchased my first home – a little colonial-style home that was converted into a two-family residence by the previous owners. I was nervous about taking on the role of landlord, but I didn’t need a lot of space and was attracted to the idea of having a property that could generate income. I was lucky to find a great tenant to rent the second-floor unit who is still renting from us. We decided to keep this property as an investment and are in the process of finding tenants for our unit. It is a little bittersweet as we built so many memories there, but it was time to find a new home with more space.
Right now, we are in the home-stretch with updates on the rental and we are still getting settled into the new home – unpacking, purging, cleaning, organizing (and more purging) – so we haven’t tackled any big projects here yet. I am taking a strategic approach to decorating and I am designing each room of the house. I really want to pare down on décor and only purchase items that I really love that will remain in style over the years. I had gotten into the habit of buying home décor and small furniture pieces on impulse (HomeGoods and Target, anyone??) and ended up selling quite a few items before the move. For the first phase of the process, I’ve started creating mood boards of my vision for each room which I intend to share here on the blog. So, there is more to come on the new house and I look forward to sharing our progress with you! Thanks for stopping by!
